This weekend was about finales in international football (or soccer for US watchers). Latin America was waiting Brazil – Peru.

Meanwhile, many where also eager to see what the American Iron Women were going to do in their finale against Netherland.

It’s official, Brazil won by 3 to 1 in front of Peru.

It’s also official, the US Female Soccer Team won the world cup again!

Alex Morgan, team captain for this match, led her team to an historic victory.

My favorites in this team were Rose Lavelle, Alex Morgan (of course) and the inevitable Meghan Rapinoe (sorry for the other members of this amazing team, that deserve their part of this success).

For one of these champions, the stakes were even higher.

Meghan (yes, the same Meghan Rapinoe who was co-captain in this championship) is a voice for sportswomen and for the LGBTQ community

… And, for all of that, she is not a strong groupie of the acting POTUS.

Answering a recent question, she said that she wouldn’t go to the White House and doubted that her team would even be invited, triggering an obvious tweet from the occupant of this house.

The important threat in this message was: “I am a big fan of the American Team, and Women’s Soccer, but Megan should WIN first before she TALKS! Finish the job! We haven’t yet….

Well, big fan of women, other than grabbing them by the “expletive”, remains to be seen. However, surely, he felt annoyed (he loves being “selfied” with champions and powerful people).

Now, it looks like they, and among them, her, finished the job, in a brilliant way (she was named best player of the championship, just before her equally brilliant teammate Alex Morgan).

What people will remember in this competition will be the following image of Meghan Rapinoe’s celebration, 90% joy and 10% defiance to “who you know”.

Now, will they be invited to the White House?

If so (it’s a big “if”), would Meghan accept the invitation?

This must be an excruciating decision to make for the notoriously egomaniac living in the most protected house of Washington DC.

Don’t bother. Everyone will act as if it had no importance at all, and maybe, these days, it has become true.

Sad!

Huge applause to Meghan Rapinoe, to Alex Morgan, and to the whole American team. You are awesome!
