Who sets a clearer path

The Onion, a guilty leaning of ours

TMN admits having a leaning for The Onion, “a Fine News Source”.

The reason for our weakness is the same as for our love for Science Fiction. Pretty much in the same way, humor offers a clearer path to describe real and present issues.

It is especially important during a period when the lies are filling the information about technology.

See, for instance, the following article (which is not an isolated case):

Starlink Users Are More Satisfied Than Those on Faster Fiber Networks

We could analyze and check what is wrong with this misleading presentation. Instead, we invite you to do so: it’s an enlightening experience.

The survival of fair information

This said, the survival of fair information is a concern (and even more in the USA). Therefore, the following article caught our attention:

Here’s Why I Decided To Buy ‘The Onion’

Its length is already an indication of its relevance (The Onion pieces use to be short).

And it answers to a “more serious” presentation of a recent news about this medium:

The Onion is sold to new firm known as Global Tetrahedron

Note: Apologies for the “more serious” claim. It is not, let’s say that it is more “factual”.

Such a drastic change in a directive board reminds what happened to – say – HBO …

The censure cancellation of specific Science Fiction shows is not casual, more a signal of their relevance.

The Onion “is Brat” too

This is why we paid a careful attention to the Onion editorial (because it was more than a simple article).

Please read it too, it is a clever (and sarcastic) way to address a real concern of us all.

Note: there is, of course, no such person as “Bryce P. Tetraeder”.

The last paragraph of the article proclaims:

“Personally, nothing brings me more fulfillment – more joy – than taking something beloved and stomping it into an unrecognizable oblivion. May Global Tetrahedron create a world where only the rich shall prosper, and nothing pure will ever exist again”.

Let us all cross our fingers (there is not much more we can do) wishing this will not occur to The Onion.
